Planning a Commercial Move
1. When is the best time to move my company or business?
When considering the best time, plan around your business hours to save money. Either move after hours or during the weekend to optimize your business operations, ease of the move and the cost.
2. How far in advance should I begin planning my commercial move?
All things being equal, you should start planning your commercial move approximately two months prior to your actual move date. Especially when dealing with larger moves, you will want to give yourself sufficient time to interview moving companies, evaluate proposals and reserve labor and equipment. Download a copy of our free Commercial Move Planning Checklist for assistance in planning your move.
3. Can you move us after business hours or over the weekend?
We provide moving services 7 days a week and 24 hours a day to ensure your business' optimum operations.
4. Where I can I get materials for my commercial move?
After choosing a New York moving company, submit a request to buy boxes from them. Most moving companies will provide you with a box delivery service.
5. Do you provide protection for marble or carpet floor?
We provide protection to floors when necessary. We have a special wood protection material called masonite that we lay down on the floor while moving your goods in and out of the building. The masonite protection holds a lot of weight and guarantees to leave no marks on the floors.
6. How can I plan on keeping large inventory organized during the move?
Liberty keeps accurate inventories of all items loaded onto our trucks during a commercial move. Your move consultant will provide you with moving labels that can be affixed to your boxes and office furniture items. Each label has sufficient room to mark the type of inventory or the person in charge of each item and the location the item will be placed in the new location.
7. Do you provide a last minute moves?
Last minute moves are provided dependent on our availability on the day you call.
Packing & Other Services
8. Do you provide packing services?
We provide partial and full packing service to meet the needs and budget of our clients. Please meet with our moving consultant to determine the packing services to meet your needs.
9. Do we have to pack the contents of file cabinets?
The procedure for packing and unpacking files from file cabinets varies based on the loading conditions at the facility and the type of file cabinet in your office. In general, if a file cabinet needs to be carried up or down stairs at either the origin or destination location, then all of the contents of all the draws will need to be emptied.
If there is no stair carry situation involved in the move, then follow these guidelines:
Vertical File Cabinets - the contents of all draws may stay intact.
Lateral File Cabinets - the contents of the bottom three draws may stay intact.
Stationery (Supply) Cabinets - all the contents of these cabinets must be emptied.
10. How do I handle delicate inventory or machinery?
The right moving company will be able to provide you with the necessary moving equipment and packing supplies to protect your inventory during the move. We use special crates, inventory carts and we provide customized crating services for specialized items. We also utilize thick moving blankets to wrap and protect your goods during the move.
11. Do you dissemble and reassemble furniture?
We have all the necessary tools to disassemble and reassemble your furniture if needed, including office cubicles. Be aware that disassembly for some furniture is not recommended for different reasons. If you happen to have furniture that cannot be disassembled, we will find alternative ways to move it.
12. Do you move photocopy machines?
Liberty Moving will move photocopiers that are owned. For those copy machines that are leased, you should check with the manufacturer to see if using a moving company to relocate the equipment will void your warranty.
13. Do you provide a disposal service for getting rid of excess office items?
We can provide a disposal service. If requested we drop off a dumpster at your business location and load the waist in to the dumpster. Arrangement for this service must be prior to the move and the volume of the waist determines the cost for this service. Please find out more about how our Asset Disposition Program can help you your business.
14. Do you provide internal moves?
We provide internal moves regularly for some of our corporate accounts. They may require less manpower and equipment because items are no loaded onto a truck.

16. How do you determine how many movers and trucks to use for the move?
The number of movers and trucks necessary for a move is determined by the size of the move, evaluated by the cubic feet and weight of the inventory. In addition to that, the presence of an elevator, a long walk or a "walk up" or a "walk down"
17. What is a binding moving cost?
A binding moving estimate is a not to exceed moving cost. It includes all the services that are being provided and the list of the inventory to be moved. This binding moving cost is used to protect the customer from any additional costs. Any additional item or service is reflected through the final cost. The final cost can be discounted if your service needs change, such as deciding not to move items on the list or deciding to wave some services we agreed upon in the binding moving cost.
